How this calculation works
Both units are mapped to a shared base unit using fixed conversion factors. US and imperial volume units are distinct; area factors are squared length factors.
Converted value = value × source factor ÷ destination factorA worked example
1 acres = approximately 43560 square feet.
Good to know
Results use fixed factors and rounded decimal display. Region-specific land measures and fluid/dry units not listed here are not inferred.

Area squares the length conversion factor
A square one metre on each side measures 100 cm by 100 cm, so its area is 10,000 cm². The conversion is not a factor of 100 because two independent length dimensions are involved.
The same reasoning applies to square feet and square metres. Converting an area with a linear length factor leaves the wrong dimensions and can create a large error.
A land-area name can depend on the region
The units in this tool have fixed listed definitions. Regional names such as bigha can vary by location and are not inferred from an acre or hectare selection. Obtain the local definition before comparing a land record.
The tool converts a known area; it does not measure an irregular plot from side lengths. Survey boundaries, slope treatment and legal records can require information beyond a single area value.
A few questions, answered
How many square feet are in the listed acre?
The listed international acre is 43,560 square feet.
Can I enter only a room’s length?
No. This converter expects an already calculated area. Use an appropriate geometry calculator to find that area first.
