How this calculation works
Divide annual gross pay by total paid hours. Actual take-home pay depends on taxes and deductions, which are not calculated here.
Hourly gross pay = annual salary ÷ (hours/week × paid weeks)A worked example
₹10,40,000 over 40 paid hours per week and 52 weeks equals ₹500 per hour.
Good to know
Uses the stated formula and assumptions. Displayed decimal values are rounded; use consistent units for all inputs.
The annual salary needs an hours assumption
₹10,40,000 divided by 2,080 paid hours gives ₹500 per hour. Divide the same salary by 2,600 hours and the equivalent is ₹400 per hour. The salary has not changed; the hours used to interpret it have.
This can be a useful comparison when schedules differ. State the paid-hours assumption alongside the hourly equivalent so a reader does not mistake a modelled figure for the employer’s contractual hourly rate.
Do not confuse compensation with net cash received
Enter a consistently defined annual gross salary. A headline compensation package can include components that are not paid as regular cash salary. Taxes, deductions and benefits are not separately identified by this calculator.
Hours and paid weeks must both be positive. If working time is irregular, an average can be useful, but it should be labeled as an approximation and reviewed against the actual schedule.
A few questions, answered
Is this my legal overtime rate?
No. Applicable employment rules and contract definitions may use a different basis.
Does it calculate take-home pay per hour?
No. It divides the entered gross annual amount by the entered paid hours.
